Planning Committee to meet in Penzance on December 10th & 14th
2009-11-30The Strategic Planning Committee that will consider the planning applications to build on Battery Rocks beach will meet in the Guildhall in Penzance at 2pm on Monday 14th December. Objectors are urged to attend.
The Guildhall public gallery only holds 60 and the committee rules allow only two public speakers from each side so a separate pre-meeting has been organised by Cornwall Council in the Acorn Theatre from 1pm to 4pm on Thursday 10th December to allow a wider public involvement. The Acorn has a capacity of around 200.
Members of the Strategic Planning Committee will be present on the 10th and the public will be able to make statements. However, formal consideration of the (Option A) planning applications and a vote on whether or not to approve them will only take place at the Committee meeting on the 14th December.
The Friends of Penzance Harbour are asking objectors to attend BOTH meetings and if there isn’t room inside then to protest peacefully outside.
In the meantime objectors should contact members of the Committee and make their feelings known. Full contact details can be found below.
The Guildhall is the old Penwith District Council chamber adjacent to St John’s Hall.
At present there is no sign of the planning application for alternatives to the original scheme (Option C) that was promised by the Cabinet at their meeting on 16th September.
